Jurimetrics, Safety and Security
Abstract
Jurimetrical analysis offers a systematic insight into the factors and decisions that play a role in legal decision making. With the assistance of jurimetrical research patterns can be
identified and defined far more clearly than by using traditional
methods. Jurimetrics can contribute to the security of society in
various ways including increasing the transparency of the legal system,
which can be made more predictable as patterns in judicial decisions
become more apparent. Jurimetrical research may also increase the
legitimacy of the legal system by exercising a supervisory and
monitoring role over the parties and procedures involved. All these
elements combined ensure that jurimetrics increases legal certainty,
which is an important requisite for the security of society, but in
specific instances, may also be used as a research method in specific
areas of concern.
